Anyone know what the usual cheapest insurance companies are? I know all depends but quotes are different each time. I'm 18 and looking to insure a Integra 1.8 Type R, cheapest quote I got was 10,000 but I need at least 2000 off.

And another thing, I checked a quote for a 1.9 Gold TDI on my own name and it only worked out at 4200, but on a 1.4 Scirrocco it was 7000? Why is that?

you need at least £2k off a £10k premium so you're happy to pay £8k.

fk me times have changed.

Lower your sights a little car wise would be my advice.

£8k for insurance? No.

Put £6k in a savings account for 3 years and drive/insurance a 1L Micra for the time being. 3 years later sell the Micra, 3 years NCB, and spend the savings for a car you want to drive and can insurance at a sensible price.

If you have a look at other posts/threads from the OP you'll see the last one was about whether he could get a "Trader" insurance policy at 18, because evidently he's going to be going into a bit of bodgy car trade/mechanics/wheeler dealing soon hehegetmecoat

Obviously nothing to do with it really just being about wanting to insure various high performance cars on the cheap at his age rolleyes

I'm guessing by this thread, he didn't get far with that enquiry hehe

The Scirocco was probably the TSI, which although it is a 1.4, it also has a helping turbo and supercharger bolted to it, putting out 165+hp as standard.

The Golf could have been anything from 110hp to 150hp, but probably was about 110hp.

i think you should leave the OP alone, he can pay £10k to insure his 10+ year old car if he wants, doubt he'll have any money left over for petrol, so he'll just be paying to help lower the premiums for the rest of us
