Justification indeed, looks great mate. I had an electric drum kit in my old S2 once, took minutes to squeeze behind seats. Took it out again and set it up in seconds, just a few adjustments to Tom Tom mounts etc, ready to plug in, takes 20 mins to do the real kit! Err and a trailer if the tiv is to take it! You been pissed til now! Good bloody Christmas. Get in there.

Apparently from TR Lane fabrications ( in 2008 ), I only bought the car last July and luckily for me the guy kept a blog from buying it in 2004 to selling it to me, photgraphing all the mods carried out and giving instructions on how it was done. Email me if u want more pics. It has a 4 point harness attached too.

I know someone who can make you one! - will post picture once mine is finished. Powder coated + soft coating near head. Key was a) maximise height - as I am 6'2 b) attach to standard locations on chassis c) make sure harness points are perfect inline with seat. d) strong enough to cope with car rolling over - most that we looked up were far too thin to deal with a real crash e.g. whole 1000kg resting on the bar!

It looks the same as the one Jeffsy had installed in his Griff and that was made by Tim Lane as well so I guess they'll make one for you.

Not totally. Chims & Griffs go completely flat to the tops of the doors when rolled if there's no rollover protection.

I fitted mine for Sprints/Hillclimbs to stiffen rear chasis & provide anchorage for full harness - now modded in height which unlike the other features, won't be used......rolleyes

+1 , also it has a 4 point harness attached, not sure I would have put it in but bought car with it already in. Adds protection, looks ok, doesn't really block access to rear shelf and has a harness attached ( which makes U feel like a race driver everytime U go out biggrin ).

I suppose only crushing or removing the top half of your head is much better.
I used to assist a couple of RAC Scrutineers many years ago and it was amazing how many cars came in with the drivers head, in a helmet particularly, a good 3 inches or more above the roll bar

I hate to bring you bad news but the old Lane bar is useless although you could mount a camera on it!

His newer design made to fit my car.

Ok going to change the thread to " have a go at Rob's Roll bar ". I'm not 6ft, my Chim has Tuscan seats which sit lower than the armchairs normally found in Chimaeras. Also the chance of rolling the car is small versus that of running into the back of someone else ect, therefore i'll enjoy the 4 point harness , which will hopefully stop my face expolding on the leven dash board in a shunt, and not worry all that much if my roll bar is an inch too low, as I didn't pay for it, its better than not having one ,,, and as you point out I can mount a camera on it too .

I can`t understand why a Roll bar fabricator can not design and build a roll bar which sits behind the seats and sits tight under the raer roff section ..

It can`t be that difficult because there are fixing points on these cars . I just don`t like the idea of having a bar to the side of my head ,a side shunt would result in a terrible injury or death . .

I don't think the car would stand up to much in a side impact anyway. You could always pad the bars or drive round like The Stig???
