Nice pubs in the Poole/Upton/Lytchett area

It's my birthday Wednesday and a few freinds and I will be spending the evening in a pub. Any suggestions?

I really like The Fox and Hounds near the Canford roundabout. Also the New Inn on the Avon Causeway to Ringwood road is nice.

My late Uncle Ted used to part own or manage the Fox & Hound I believe around 25-30 years ago, although I only met him 3 or 4 times though. Really nice pub.

St Peter's Finger in Lytchett Minster is popular these days. Gets my recommendation.

Only if you're eating though. Not realy a drinking pub these days.

ETA; The Chequers/Lytchett Matravers has had a change of landlord and is, apparently, getting busy again.
