Extending an IPod connector cable

Does anyone who posts on here have any experience of hard wiring sat nav/iPods into cars?

I've got a mini & the Y cable that you can get is great as it lets you control the music on your iPhone & yet still use it's other features such as sat nav, but you can only get a 30cm one.

My idea is to extend it to about 1.5m so I can tuck it up behind the dash & then plug the phone in & sucker mount it to the windscreen.

I can get a Y cable reasonably cheaply but does anyone have any tips on who could extend it for me?

I moved mine in my focus works fine.

Normally have to plug into the glove box. I extended the cable and now plug in the ashtray. Took about 10 min to do.

Why not use this and maybe buy two to daisy chain for 2m length. I do not know whether there are length limitations, I doubt it as you can get fairly long usb extenders.

If not then a usb extender and an audio jack male and female extension would do the same thing.

Good thinking, just ordered one to see if it will work-I'll update when it arrives
