Afternoon!
Wondering if there is any other fans looking forward to the new album.
After more than 10 long years and a rough break-up they are back on form and hopefully, just as fantastic as they once were in the early 90s. I've been a HUGE fan since I was 6 when Coming Up was released (very young I know! Haha)
Was lucky enough to finally see them on Halloween 2002 during the New Morning tour and it was fantastic!
Spent the other night watching the Albert Hall performance for the Teenage Cancer Trust and it was like they were never apart! I smiled the whole way through Id heavily recommend it to any fans and half of the proceeds go to the trust too (boost!)
Brett's solo stuff was good over the last decade as was The Tears but lacked the poison and grit of his original Suede stuff IMO.
The song "Barriers" is available as a free download from their Facebook page and the new album is out on 18th March.

Nice to see someone else anticipating this new album,
It is never going to blow my mind like the first two offerings
But I think after a long breake it will knock spots off A New Morning
I have been lucky enough to see them around 20 times from 1993 onwards
Including the amazing gig at Blackpool Tower Ballroom (Performance bootleg fame)
Heard a few tracks from the new album on 6music live at Maida Vale session,sounding st hot !

Question is Bernard Butler or Richard Oakes?

Suede diehards usually see that as sacrilege, but look at the evidence. Butler, uber skilled guitar monkey, wrote one of the best indie riffs of all time in Animal nitrate, but flounced off never to hit the heights again or Richard Oakes who wrote all of the subsequent music aged seventeen & then disappeared into a series of local bands not doing much of anything notable.

Looking forward to this a lot. Dog Man Star is an absolute classic. I always remember the review in Select magazine at the time had a great line, "Dog Man Star will be being listened to on somebodies late night headphones long after we've forgotten who the Smashing Pumpkins are." Now this has not quite come true of course, but it prefectly captures the idea of that album I think.
I've enjoyed Brett's solo work and The Tears album, but I really am looking forward to the new Suede album a lot.

Both exceptional guitarists,For me Bernard wrote the two best suede albums with Brett
Richards only exceptional work was Coming Up,still fantastic but not in the same league as the two firsts and of course the amazing ep Stay Together/My Dark Star
Dogmanstar for me is as good an album as has been written by anyone

It's gotta be Butler. DMS is an epic album, their debut had it's belters too...So Young anyone? Butler's b-sides were amongst the best songs that grace my collection, My Dark Star is in my top5 of all songs ever by anyone ever. The Oakes era was commercially more successful but this is never a measure of greatness. Britpap was in full swing & poppy guitar tunes sold by the lorry full. Coming Up therefore sold & sold. The Beautiful Ones for instance is an ok song & charted really well but is it a patch on their earlier output?

I was lucky enough to see Suede very early on (supporting Kingmaker) & their 1st proper solo tour, & I was mesmerised. The later gigs with Richard were also really, really amazing (bizarrely I think he sometimes played the older stuff better than Bernard??) & I loved the DMS tour completely, the Blackpool gig was amazing (supported by the excellent Strangelove).

I'm keen to listen to the new stuff & am open minded about it. I hope that it's really great tbh, it's about time I listened to some new stuff that blew my socks off.

I'd say Butler too, but it's good to talk!

As an aside, I blagged my way into Butler's industry do solo launch gig. He flounced that night too after some A&R guy's mobile went off.

And of course Living Dead off the same ep
got invited into the soundcheck at the Tears Manchester gig and Bernard was amazing and a smashing bloke too
I first saw them in 1993 at Brixton and again in Bradford.The DMS tour was incredible bearing in mind that Richard stood in at extremely short notice after Bernard had departed.

Have been listening a lot to Bretts acoustic London Gigs from 2007 well worth buying if you can find them Union Chapel and Queen Elizabeth Hall.

I am still looking for 3 Suede bootleg cds that I don't have to complete my collection ! anyone have any ? Theres a Staaaaaarman pt1 and p2 and So Beautiful

Have heard a few tracks from Bloodsports that Suede played live in the BBC6 music live session at Maida Vale last week,it was on the red button ,not sure if it is still on also audio only on live podplay

Officially my favourite band (i.e. When people ask the question) and am looking forward to the new album, but not holding out much hope given Brett Anderson's inability to get any further with his melodic ability these days. Sad. Was teary-sad at the last gig in 2003, but delighted to catch the run of three albums at Brixton a while back, and they're triffic live, so a welcome return. And Barriers wasn't rubbish, just ambushed by David Bowie returning three days later

Actually I am going to be spoiled by Suede (officially) my best band
and DB (officially) my best solo performer !!!
Both new albums are sounding good (DB's) is up on youtube now and free on I tunes today
I am tempted to go to the suede gig at the Ali Pali too
