Just purchased 2002 M12 GTO and pick up on Wednesday :-)
Test drove a M12 for the first time last week and I've never been so impressed with a car before. Previous to this I've had Ferrari's and an Elise and drove loads of other stuff at corporate driver days etc. Never been this impressed by a car.
The sound of those turbo's is intoxicating!!!

Thanks for the replies.
It's a straight 2.5 M12 GTO in Indigo Blue. I'll post some picy's up when I finally get my hands on it tomorrow.
Couple of questions from a Noble virgin:
There's a lot of posts talking about factory upgrades being performed when cars have been in for services. Is there a list somewhere of changes that should have been made to the various versions of M12's?
I'm planning on getting the car on track once I've got some miles under the belt. Car doesn't have the track day sump fitted...how crucial is this to have fitted (sure this has been done to death)?

The most common 2.5 thorn was the ECU. If you've got an old Magnetti Marelli ECU, they tended to fail. Mainly on the throttle idle (it didn't idle...it stalled!). The newer ones are MBE ECU's. The problem was that to upgrade to the new MBE's the wiring loom had to be changed too! (
gulp, sit down have a stiff drink!). The factory power upgrade can only be done on the MBE.
I have taken a fairly 'risky' option in that I'm having a third party ECU put in. This is obviously not reccomended but my car is out of warranty and I have confidence in the ability of the guys that are doing it. It is also miles cheaper! I'll probably end up paying for penny pinching later, but i'll worry about that when I get there !!!!

Your call on this as the car will be out of warranty (Noble only covers cars on track and in warranty with baffled (AKA: "track day") sumps).
As far as I recall the only problem was on very long, fast bends where the oil is forced to the outside of the casing (ouch!) - I understand that others, without a baffled sump, have tracked theirs without incident.

And your insurer may have a view as to whether your premium needs to go up for track day use, unless you get insurance through whoever you book the track day with.

Hi Simon,
We were informed by Moley's at time of service, that being a later model, yours has the later ECU and associated upgades.

One new engine later I learnt that when Noble say "don't track it without the track day sump" they really do know what they are talking about.
Justin
welcome.
I made the same choice a few weeks back...can't get enough of the twin turbo chatter, and twice a day, every day I get my fix...can't think I'm ever going to be able to ween myself off it, but then why should I want to?
Unfortunately I first discovered the delights 2 years ago, then was persuaded by the wife to get a tuscan (maybe pretty, but actually pretty useless, even on straight roads under mild acceleration) a lampost later I returned to dreams of a noble, and the drop top GTC...but no twin turbo chatter...so here I am joining the nobility at the original 2.5 level having saved myself more than £20k for the late arrival...best bargain supercar on the market IMHO.
every drive is sheer pleasure...even in the wet (haven't experienced snow and ice yet though)...happy motoring, I know it will be.
