Kubica to test DTM

I haven't seen this posted anywhere. Kubica to take part in the DTM Valencia test next week - not expected to lead directly to a drive as he has already committed to the European Rally Championship which clashes with several DTM rounds.

However it will give us an insight into just how capable he still is against some strong drivers.

I don't think there is much debate on whether or not Kubica can keep up with quick drivers. I think the doubt re: formula 1 is that he no longer has the dexterity in his fingers to operate a modern f1 steering wheel.

Are DTM steering wheels much less complicated? If not, then I very much doubt there'll be any special changes made for a one-off test.

I'm not alluding to any future F1 involvement, just pointing out that we can actually see if he is hampered or not with driving a relatively advanced circuit car against high quality opposition (many of whom also have DTM experience).

We don't really know anything at the moment about his speed - only that he can drive a rally car quickly against weak opposition.

Still a reasonable amount of buttons to worry about, but alot less than F1. No dials to twiddle either.

I would say the DTM would be much easier to negotiate than his old office.

Nothing to twiddle and the buttons are sufficiently far apart that a hurried 'mash' will possibly have the desired effect

Not only those buttons but there is brake bias in the cockpit, plus the clutch on the steering wheel and alot of this needs to be done whilst driving at speed and round corners.

Great guy with determination but I just can't see him returning to F1. He took the risk to go rallying and had a crash, I wonder what he thinks about that aspect? I mean not in the press but in real life.

I read on twitter that he was 0.5s quicker than Paffet? (adam cooper F1 tweeted it, so not just some random moron).
