Any good and bad points about these two similar cars? Seems like you can pick up decent examples of both for sub £5000.

Can't say I've heard much against a Clio. A 207 wouldn't make a short list for hot hatches personally. I'd have a look at some reviews but a nice 197 would do nicely although a 182 Trophy is probably a bit more special.

I wouldn't even consider the 207 tbh.

Can you get a corsa VXR for 5k yet.?

A well specced 197 beat the Peugeot hands down on nearly every count tbh.
Cheaper to run(insurance, servicing, fuel)and is touted as being a much better handling car.
I've driven a 197 and it was good fun, but not that much in a straight line. I've not driven a 207 Gti but they never even get considered as a competitor for the 197 in most reveiws.

If you want a good Hot hatch from the last 10 years, Renaultsport nearly always do it best smile

197 every time, or a trophy if you can find a good one.

A friend of mine was looking at Corsa VXRs the other day, seems they start about for £6.5k for the oldest, leggiest ones on the market.

If I was choosing between a Clio 197 and a Peugeot 207, I'd save myself the hassle and take the Pug out of the running immediately and set about finding the best 197 I could afford.
