Hi there i'm doing a bit of research ready for when I need to replace the engine in my global gt. When the time comes I would like to fit a turbocharged hayabusa engine. I intend to have a rough idea of the parts I want to fit to make the transition as easy as possible the main thing I am interested in is witch ecu I will be using as I made a huge mistake by picking the wrong one before so I would like to know which functions I would find useful to help reduce the list of possible candidates. so would anti-lag be a useful option on this engine or will it be unnecessary given the free revving nature of the standard engine and how does it actually work? thanks for any opinions and advice its greatly apreciated

Have a chat with the folk at Big CC or Holeshot, they've got plenty of experience with forced induction on the busa lump..

They've done at least a couple of Hayabusa turbo's, one belonged to Duncan Cowper, this was the first time he'd had the new car on track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWE07IKJU98 Geoff Page is an interesting chap to speak to as well, helped Duncan a lot and built the engine for him as well as calibrated it.

More importantly is who will be tuning it. You need to select an ecu they are happy to work with. Plenty of ecu's will run the engine.

im going to run an omex unit i think although that may change im not worried how far i have to go to get the car mapped as long as it isn't those cowboys at waton.im going to build the engine with some help from a couple of hot rod builders i know but its a bit out of there comfort zone.the ecu is the only thing i wont be playing with as i dont have a clue how they work.only downside i have read about the omex unit is that the maximum recomended rev limit is 12,750 i think i may want to go slightly beyond that but i am unsure i know i will want to use at least 12000 rpm any recomendations on ecus?

I have just changed from an omex710/em36 on my car to a Haltech sport 1000 the software is far far more user friendly also does anti lag and upto 16000rpm so might be worth a look for your application?

Got it from AET Motorsport might me worth a chat.

A lot of drag bike guys around the world use DTA too. And it's a lot cheaper.

Just depends what is required really. DTA will operate up to 20krpm, although more load sites would be better.

Don't forget SBD too, Steve has a lot of experience of the Hayabusa and the MBE ECU. http://www.sbdev.co.uk/Engine_Management_Systems/E...

I have the SBD throttle bodies, fuel rail and ECU with a loom by Steve Hurst at GWR on my supercharged Hayabusa.

Loads of the ECU manufactures quote things like "operates up to 15krpm" and similar. A very, very few actually publish timing quantisation and latency at their claimed peak speed.........

Maybe, but it would be annoying to wreck an engine due to spark scatter at peak power rpm! I've generally found the m/cycle based power units to be a bit touchy when it comes to the accuracy of the calibration. A little bit too much spark and boom!
