Had fun at Donington today driving (and being driven in) Mick Hyde's SR4.

It's my first Radical experience and it was fabulous (even though I didn't get enough laps)! For various reasons (that I won't bore you with) I wanted to get 2 seats and road legal. However, doing the sums with all the bits that are recommended came to £35k.

I had a look last year and decided it was probably out of my (budget) league and now I know it is!

Fun day out though.

Why not buy my SR4 second hand at the end of the season and convert it for road use. Will probably save you £10k or so.

Sounds good, but not sure it'll be that cost effective. What spec is it?

Full race spec with all extras. Just no SVA kit.

Looks great. Is it the kawasaki engine or the suzuki? I assume the former if you are racing in the Radical series. Paul Gandy was telling me yesterday that I would need the suzuki on injection as it's the only one they can get through SVA.

I guess so, sorry.

Anyone got a Suzuki powered SR4 that they want to sell for probably quite a lot less than they paid for it?

Nope didn't think so!!!!

Graham,

I was at the factory today and I believe Paul may know someone who you can talk to who is selling their SR4 with a Suzuki power plant. It's been used for trackdays only and the car has been well looked after.

Simon.

Thanks Simon,

I have already had a look, it belongs to a chap called Tony (if it is the same one). And is a fab bit of kit. It has the spares package as well.

Tony paid 39 for it and is selling it for 31. Thats quite a decrease but even then, it's at least 2 annual bonuses away for me! So really (and sadly) I have been clutching at straws. I'll try again when I have saved my pennies!!

In retrospect, I have been a bit of a dope. I have just changed my 3.5 yr old P1 for a new EVO VIII. The Evo is better than the P1, but not as much better than the SR4 is better than my Caterham (IYSWIM).

Hey, ho, I'll get there in the end!
