I've only been once, a flying visit, but my missus wants to go for a few days mid Feb.

Another point to note is that her mum (60 ish) and nephew (15) will be coming too.

All info welcome.

Underground tour! There are ghost tours too, we did the daytime underground tour and it was fascinating.

Whisky tour is quite interesting, 15yr old might either be put off alcohol or gain a discerning palate wink

There was also a Bentley Classic Rally convening in the centre of the city too when we were there!

See last 3.

Check out the Camera Obscura too.

The actual thing on the roof is interesting, but the visual tricks in the whole building can keep you busy for hours, it was definitely the most unexpected pleasure of our trip in 2011.

Enjoyed the castle even though we thought it was a little expensive, underground ghost tours were also very good.

The usual open top bus tour was good and it also stops by the castle entrance so you can hop off tour the castle and then hop on the next one that comes along.

As above. The castle is good, Mary Kings Close on the Royal Mile and perhaps Britannia - visited for the first time last year and was very impressed (jump on a 22 bus from Princes Street).

Edinburgh is a bit of a shambles at the moment due to tram works, but its still a great place to visit!

Great place.

Do all the things as mentioned in eralier posts.
Check out a place called Whiski Rooms. Good food and a HUGE selection of whiskies to sample and buy.

Well worth checking out.
