Evening all,
I've been on PH for a while, but havent put any of my cars on here yet, so I thought I'd make a new thread. At the moment I'm currently driving a 1.2 Corsa SXi. Not very PH I know, but the fact that I do a lot of miles means that fuel economy is key at the moment. Hopefully looking to buy a quick diesel at some point in the next few months, but we shall see what happens. I bought this from my Dad in April 2012, having just scrapped my Mk 4 Escort. Gearbox fell to bits on the way to the scrapyard, so I think it had had it's day! I do miss it though, it was a brilliant car to muck about in.
Over the course of the next couple of months of owning the Corsa, the head gasket went twice, owing to a dodgy water pump. It should have been changed the first time it went, but thanks to the garage they had 'forgotten' to do this the first time! It also decided to drip oil all over the drive, until I found out that they had not done the sump plug up properly. It's had two new tyres, a new exhaust along with about £2k's worth of fuel put in it over the last 10 months or so. Nothing too major apart from the head gasket, although I don't think I'd repair it again if it went! It's all sorted and running very well now though.
So here she is, earlier on today. Covered in snow, and very very dirty. It does get cleaned very regularly, and is absolutely spotless inside. No modifications to it, I don't want to spend money on stuff that isn't going to make a massive difference in performance, as it is a 1.2 after all! I'll keep saving my cash until I've bought my house, then look for a new one.
And one of when she's nice and clean. My old Escort is in the background.
So let me know what you think, be it good or bad.

In the last 10 months or so I've done about 15000 miles. Most of it across country, but a fair bit travelling down the A12, M25 and A21 to Tunbridge Wells. It does get frustrating, but I like the fact that I can use it like a van to carry chainsaws and climbing kit, but it is a decent car to go out in as well!

There are really. For every Corsa barried and ruined by some young idiot, there will be another two or three in standard condition, at least. It's one of the biggest selling cars in the UK, especially in SXi trim!expensivegarms said:
That's the way she'll be staying I reckon. I'd definitely have another one, but would have to be the 11.8 SRi I think. Thanks for all the comments so far, nice to know I'm doing the right thing by keeping it standard!
Wow! An 11.8 Corsa. I bet that would shift. 
Seriously, I really like these and are a possible first car for me in a few months time. Nice standard aswell, black really suits it.

They are good fun, and I'd definitely recommend getting one as a first car, they're nippy for a 1.2 and handling isn't that bad as standard. I'd offer mine up for sale, but I don't think its worth a lot so ill probably just run it into the ground.

May as well, It must be impossible to make one of these ride worse than standard!There's one of these in the family and it's been good except for an immobiliser fault and an oil leak from the oil pressure sensor (which slowly emptied the sump of oil and basically caused the demise of the engine) oh, and the handbrake. And the gear linkage. Apart from that, all good
Dannyscene, yeah I reckon he was! I was a bit pissed off, but I guess you can't really tell these things until they go, so just had to bite the bullet and get it sorted.
Hustlerussell, I had the same problem with the oil pressure sensor too, but thanks to lino floors in the garage it was easy to find out what the problem was sooner rather than later!
I am going to look at a Fiesta Zetec S 1.6 tdci over the weekend, so it may be goodbye Corsa soon!

£4 part that you can replace in 5 mins. What kind of car enthusiast would allow this to happen?!
