Carfest - North and South
Discussion
Chris Evans announced on Radio 2 last week that Aston Martin's 100 years will be celebrated at CarFest this year. The CarFest organisers have asked the AMOC to coordinate a 100 car display for each of the three days at both venues.
The venues and dates are:
CarFest North - Oulton Park, Cheshire, 2 to 4 August 2013
CarFest South- Laverstoke Farm, Hampshire, 23 - 25 August 2013
Aston Martin will also be there. More details soon, but meanwhile if you have an Aston Martin and are interested in being part of the display, and thus receive two FREE tickets as an entrant which also allows free access to the evening concerts, please send an email to garrydb7@gmail.com. Please let Garry know you saw this on Pistonheads.
Needless to say there has been a lot of interest so far, and numbers are restricted to the 100 each day, so don't delay.

I tried to get camping tickets for the full weekend on the morning the tickets were released. By the time i got my payment details typed into the system I got a message back saying they had sold out! ... It was 6 mins after they opened and they were all gone!!
I missed out last year for this reason and I typed as fast as I could this year and missed out again.
Anyway... I have since booked a camp site 6 miles away from the site and managed to get a day ticket for Sunday at carfest North. Not what I wanted but better than nothing!
I was going to book the car in for the show but only if I got weekend camping tickets as its a lot of hassle to drive the motorhome and the car over for a few hours on the Sunday.
Is anyone else going to Carfest North on Sunday?

Email received today. Anyone one else fancy signing up for CarFest 2013 - you would be in good company
:
Dear Aston People,
As some of you may know, I am helping Garry Taylor with CarFestNorth, particularly with regard to the onsite organisation. You are all on the list of confirmed entrants, that I have received from Garry.
The first thing I should like to bring to your attention is accommodation, if you require it, you should book it very soon.
If you intend to camp, then you need to book your camping pitch, using the attached “Car Club Camping Form” which will get you a place in the Crew camping site. All communications, payments etc. should be addressed to Melissa Ormiston, melissao@brandevents.co.uk . When booking please make sure the you advise that you are part of the Aston Martin Owners Club (AMOC) Aston Martin group of 100 cars. The costs are £25 + VAT (£29) per pitch per night, this also applies for campervan pitches.
Should you be looking for hotel or other accommodation, some contact links given are, http://www.eventexpressuk.info/index.asp?e=Carfest... for hotels, http://www.yurtel.co.uk/pages/yurtel-festivals/fes... and Robert Birse at Yurtel, contact details are 01225 290 120 or 07887 942 272 and robert@yurtel.co.uk for Glamping. Having checked, most nearby hotel accommodation is already booked, or what is available is very expensive, although maybe not compared to £1500 for a Yurt for 3 nights. I have had some success with the De Vere, Carden Park, about 8 miles away, which still had cancellable rooms at £125/night.
The next thing I shall ask of you, is to confirm some basic information to me. I know you will all have passed on various details to Garry, but treat this as a double check.
a) If you are an AMOC Member, please let me know your Membership No. together with the Area you are from.
b) Car details, please let me know the model, year and registration number. This is very important as we have a number of similar sounding models, DBS (V8), DBS (V12), V8 Vantage, Vantage V8 etc. etc. the aim will be to group cars in models, so this helps as plan numbers. If you are bring more than one car, let me have details of each. If, at a later date, you wish to change the Aston you are bringing, that will be fine, as long as you let us know.
c) Which days are you attending, please remember that all cars will have to be in position, probably by 08.30/09.00hrs and will not be permitted to move until the evening, probably 18.30/ 19.30hrs. You will be able to arrive, and put your car in position, the night before, but please make sure you let me know, so that someone can show you your parking slot.
This event is for 100 Aston Martin cars, and we are already over halfway there, however, if you know on any other Aston Martin owners who would be interested in bringing their cars along, please get them to contact Garry Taylor.
I say 100 cars, but if is actually 107 cars. 100 cars for display and 7 cars for the Display Sprint events. The 7 cars for the Sprint are to represent the various periods Aston Martin.
1) Pre war
2) Feltham DB2’s – Mk III
3) David Brown – DB4, DB5 & DB6
4) Newport Pagnell V8’s etc.
5) Vanquish
6) Bloxham DB7
7) Gaydon
The cars for this event are standard road going cars, not race cars. We already cars for slots 1), 4) & 7) for all 3 days and for slot 5) on Saturday and Sunday. If you have a car suitable for the other available slots, then please let me know. Remember, this is a display Sprint which will be held on a section of the Oulton Park Circuit, it is not a competitive event. Obviously this is to entertain the public, so a bit of welly is likely to be appreciated, but only if it is done safely, after all it will be at your own risk. On the basis of 2012, there will be Display Sprint held in the morning and afternoon of each day. The 7 cars for this event will be parked in a special pits area, along with all the other groups of 7 cars.
Race Cars and Specials, if you have an Aston Martin race car, or a highly modified/developed car, please also bring this along, we will endeavour to group these together. An idea of mine, which means it has not been sanctioned by anyone yet, is that if we could get a selection of 7 Aston Martin Race Cars, which cover the broadest spectrum, from pre-war to current, we can ask the event organisers if they would also consider having a group of 7 Aston Martin Race Cars for the Display Sprint event. If you have a car you would like to be considered for this, please let me know.
That’s all for now. If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me or Garry

I am the AMOC Event Manager for the Aston Martin 100 cars display at both venues.
As my name has been mentioned a few times here, thought it would be a good thing to sign up and say "Hello" and update you on CarFest numbers.
So, first things first - Hello!
CarFest South is now full, with 100 Aston Martins already registered. Not all owners will be attending all three days, so I will be contacting them soon to determine which days they wish to attend etc. This will, almost certainly leave a few gaps in each day, and will fill those from on my Reserve List that i have now started.
CarFest North, today, stands at 66 cars and is increasing daily.
If you wish to be part of CarFest, being on a Reserved List for South, and, currently, a Guaranteed List for North then send me an email to garrydb7@gmail.com with the following info:
Full name
CarFest Venue: South or North
Aston Martin model
Mobile number
I reply to all emails within 24 hours - usually the same day.
