Can't even get out of our lane at the moment. One of the "fun" things about living in the deepest, darkest part of outer country farmland Herts/Essex...

with Sags going for 60k is it really too much of a stretch to imagine that people would be willing to pay 100k for a brand new one?

i'm not suggesting that TVR isn't dead, neither am i trying to start the "will TVR rise again" debate.

but surely the idea of restarting the company and uping the prices was not too far fetched?

No, they would pay maybe £60-70k but if your talking £100k ill take a Gallardo Balboni/DBS/countless other great cars in that bracket thanks very much. IMO

In my opinion the reason they are fetching such good money is because they are not making any more.

i guess that's the crux of it, they are now collectible because no more are being made

we'll see in a few years time what people are willing to pay biggrin

right now, i'll just enjoy it no matter the price :P

But a counter arugment could be that a Gallardo, DBS , etc is not the competition of a Sagaris. If you look at other low volume bespoke manufacturers such as Wiesmann, Noble and Spyker then in comparison a high quality built Sagaris would look a bargain at £100k.

For many in the used market it's not about what the competition is for that marque, its about what experience can I get for X amount of cash.

Comparable Nobles are 35K. I think they are waiting for their prices to rise, or is this more realistic... More mystic with the TVR, no more, higher price etc.

Driven a few Nobles in the past, I prefer the TVRs.

i'm probably going to raise some eye brows for this...

the new Noble M600 is about £200,000, whereas the M400 was about £60k new.

when you take into consideration economy, recession and market perhaps a new model of TVR starting at this price would not be out of the realms of possibility.

although only time will tell if Noble's new direction and car are successful

(again not wanting to poke the "TVR Resurrection" bear)

The new Noble is some car, albeit with two Yamaha engines welded together and tubocharged (I think), and I wouldn't mind one BUT have the sold any at all yet ??

smile I think you've been smoking crack again Paul, comparing the m400/m600 is like apples and pears, they only share a similar name tag. The m400 was built on a shoestring budget by the old owners, the M600 was a no expenses spared project by the new American owners (billionaire?) hence the 3-4 years of testing and development, the components are all built to perform, rather than sourced by a budget (e.g. gearbox is same as used in enzo vs mondeo unit, the engines are ford mondeo vs yamaha tuned volvo V8), it now has type approval for overseas markets. M600 is aimed at the super car collectors and the M400 was a cheap track toy.

The difference with Noble/TVR being the owner isn't like smellyenski and is doing it as a hobby rather than to make money, they won't ever sell in huge numbers but they are now and by the looks of things continue to sell, I've sat in a couple at the factory and seen evidence of more than 7 different cars now, not including the one which went to Bahrain, so there must be more than that out there, the quality is easily as good its italian rivals, the reviews have all been fantastic for a first attempt at the super car market and I'm just excited to see what the next model will be like, as i can't afford the current one yet wink

I won't go into the reasons of why TVR won't live again but sadly unless someone comes along with passion for the brand and big money to throw around, its not going to happen, regardless of market conditions. frown

i guess i still had hopes that some eccentric billionaire would swoop in and bring TVR into the supercar market. but i guess that's dead in the water

the main thing that irks me is the decline of driving for enjoyment. cheap track toys and weekend wanderers are all but gone. maybe it's the recession and there will be a resurgance in better times, but i can't help but think that we've lost something truely great.

Maybe one day some enterprising individual will come up with a way to create a cheap, "average" person's car that can be tuned to take on the best or tinkered with to encounter the worst
