Porsche 550A coupe 1956 Le Mans winner info request
Discussion
Hi, not sure if this is better here in the Le Mans section or on a general Porsche section. I explain. In the small village of Teloche, south of Mulsanne where I live there is a garage. Inside on the walls you will find various photos of old Porsches that raced at Le Mans in the 50's. If you do a google check for Porsche Teloche, you will find some info. Porsche actually took over this garage to prepare two cars for the 1956 24hrs du Mans. Today in the local Maire of Teloche, I saw on the notice board this leaflet, which I've scanned. Someone, I think related to the garage (maybe the owner) is looking for more info, photos, perhaps news where the car is, if it still exists. I always like to help out to anyone passionate especially related to sports cars and the 24hrs, and as I'm living in the village, thought this post on Pistonheads would really help. I can translate what the bloke asks, if required. So anyone out there got some ideas? Cheers,
Probably a good idea to post this also on the ten-tenths historic racing forum.:

I have recieved a reply from Robin Walker a club member who has been to the site
"Regarding the garage in the village of Teloche, South of Mulsanne just off the N138, that Porsche used as a base I have attached a couple of photos we took when we visited the garage after the 2010 Le Mans campsite week. I spoke with the owner about the garages history and he confirmed that the garage was the one used by Porsche in the 50's and 60's but it was now up for sale. He said that during the 2008 Le Mans Classic weekend, Wolfgang Porsche brought his two sons to see the garage and the owner was hoping that any interest from Porsche people would bump up the value of the garage so he could get more money from it to retire on. I do not know if he still owns the garage, when I took Dave Dennett and the two photographers to visit the place during the 2011 Le Mans week, it was shut for the weekend so I never got the chance to speak to anyone. This is definately the garage used for the
550 Spyders when they were raced."

Hi Thanks for the news. The garage is still in business. Not sure if its run by the same people or new owners. I could investigate. I pass it everyday to work. Not sure if the person who put these leaflets in Teloché Marie is related to the garage or not. I sent an e-mail, written in french, but so far no reply. I guess getting in touch with the Porsche museum might help too.
