I was looking forward to positive results for these new engines, so far it seems the issue is just for the 1.6l models in USA.

(sorry if re-post, i did search)

I know they are high pressure, but i would of thought that would make them safer as the fueling mechanism would be over engineered due to the higher pressure.

Has anyone had their vehicle recalled? whats the latest on this story?

The higher pressure is from the turbo, surely, not the fuelling?

I believe the fuel is higher pressure than normal, is it is being injected directly into the combustion chamber, you would want it to disperse better (atomize) as this would usually happen in the inlet tract.

Having a high pressure turbo on a 1.6 engine would be laggy i imagine, you could make a low inertia turbo, but i wouldnt of thought this would be the case on mass produced Fords.
But this is just my theory, im no engineer!

Seems this hasn't affected too many people this side of the pond?

Direct injection is far from unique to this engine though, and indeed far from unusual. Petrol DI injectors still run at an order of magnitude lower pressure than diesel ones.

Ah - my apologies - didn't realise the 1.6 was Di. Fuel will of course be at a higher than usual pressure in that case.
