How much are the quotes on the Turbo vs N/A, and how far off the budget is the Turbo?
I only ask because a N/A Supra won't be a huge jump up in performance compared to your Corsa, especially if the Supra is an auto. The 2JZ-GE is a fantastic engine in something like my GS300, which is lighter and more suited to such an engine....In a Supra though, no. It feels strained and underpowered, making you lust for the Turbo.
My opinion, save up for a turbo!

I'm you, just 3 years down the line, now in a position to buy my relatively modest dream car. My advice would be if you're going to do something, do it properly. Trouble is a TT Supra is 10K for a good one (last time I checked) and at that price I would look at doing something else with that sort of money before buying a supra. An N/A supra - I don't see the appeal - if you can justify the outlay for a TT supra then go for it!

I pretty much agree.... That sort of money gets a grade 1 Skyline gtr32.. with change for a daily and insurance !!RobCrezz said:
And although it doesn't seem a huge amount more power, in reality you would be crazy not to do the basic stage 1 upgrade in the turbo, which gives you a reliable 400bhp. So you are really looking at about double the power.
I know all about the BPU etc, I like to think I know a lot about the car already :PProbably makes sense to get used to RWD in a 200 odd bhp car rather than a 300 bhp one, it will be quicker than your Corsa, just might not feel that quick, it is still decently rapid, 0-0 in late sixes/early sevens and 140 odd mph. I would look around and try and nick one off someone for a couple of grand, get used to it for a couple of years and then look out for a turbo, dont know your experience level but you are coming from a tepid fwd hatch to a RWD GT/Sports car with, as far as I am aware no driver aids, on here people will discuss how slow it is and to get a turbo but it is still more than enough grunt to end up getting in trouble, not being condescending, I came back to RWD last year in a 944 S2 with 211 bhp and it moves quite nicely, I can get more powerful stuff but an enjoying the 944 and it isnt too lairy to scare the s
t out of me.
With Supra's finding one that hasnt been Barried to death is the main thing, dont know what most owners are thinking, they look just fine from the factory.

Yeah, and for a cheaper cost to insure!

Some of the Supra's i'm finding are horrendous, im trying to find a clean example that hasnt been mucked about with!
I picked up an Supra SZ when I just turned 20. It was a nice car but felt rather sluggish due to the massive weight (remember these weigh 1495kg).
After about 8 months of owning it I sold it and purchased a 6 Speed RZ. That was a whole different level of fun
Insurance (ok going back nearly 9 years) was about £800 for the SZ and £850 for the RZ

I also agree with J4CKO...
If you are not experienced with RWD....Don't go turbo first...
Get used to the general handling characteristics of rwd first...then progress...
If in doubt of my experience....look at my current garage...
I also sold my supra last year....wish I hadn't though !!

I wonder how many people saying an N/a Supra is NOT slow has driven one
. Off the line they aren't bad, but once rolling they are incredibly sluggish especially if an auto. A perfect case off too much weight, not enough power!
As for getting used to RWD, it's a fair comnent I guess, but the TT Supra is hardly uncontrollable if it's on good tyres and not running silly power. There long wheelbase and high kerbweight makes it very predictable.

Daston
I would only be keeping it for a year, i dont plan on keeping it long, obviously I want to move up to the TT :P
digger the goat
Thats what I was thinking, I have always had smaller engined FWD cars, had a blast on an M3 on a track day and instantly felt the difference in handling! As above, it would only be a year before getting a more powerful example!

Nearly all seem to be knackered, any decent runs costs more than the Supra's im looking at!
