I've a 350i fitted with a webber/edelbrock carb - just bust the cable which has a ball type fitting at the carb end. Is this standard? What's it off or is it a TVR part or worse!

If you still have the cable and both ends - you can send it to speedy cables who can make a new one.

Well for the moment I've done a bodge. The cable broke at the pedal end so I cut the last 5 cms off and soldered the end to stop fraying. then cut 10cms of the outer from the middle of the cable (there was plenty of slack) and sleeved the cut part with a 8 cm section of alloy tent pole (any thin tube would do). That then gave me plenty of slack to fit a bike brake cable stop on the pedal end and bingo! I've ordered an Escort Mk1 cable which looks like it's a straight swap but I've a feeling the bodge will stay put for a while...

The car has been owned by someone with a love of zip fasteners which makes things neat but put all the hoses and cables under stress so I've been busy cutting all those off.
