It's because it physically doesn't fit.
The RHD vehicles steering column fouls the transmission (or something) on the 4Matic. They're not going to re-engineer it for the relatively small and pointless RHD market, UK, Au, Asia.
I don't think the UK buyers would go for it but then again the Quattro is popular but is that because it's just a certain model and spec or just a different type of buyer?

but we have launched the CLA with 4matic, and it will be avaiable for uk market.
Really want the new E63 S I.e the one shown at Detroit a few weeks back, as I understand from the literature and the car & driver preview it has been developed specifically as a 4matic to compete with the RS6, which makes me wonder if MB have had to specially make it 2wd for the UK ?but we have launched the CLA with 4matic, and it will be avaiable for uk market.
