Hi
I flying to Vietnam via Dubai in March and the first leg of the trip is on an Airbus 380.
I can pre-book my (economy) seats and wondered which were the best seats to go for. We've been pre-allocated 46J and 46k but pretty much most seats are up for grabs and can be changed without charge (please note BA)

Emirate A380 seems to have good legroom. There are a lot more bulkhead/exit type seats due to the cabin configuration, try and get those. As far forwards as possible so you're in front of the engines.
The most impressive thing about the A380s I've been on is the lack of feeling of acceleration and deceleration on take-off/landing, it just moves off and goes up in the air with no fuss.

Flown it in both economy and business a few times. Whilst the bar is a novel idea for an hour or two, I find the journey in the business seat much the same as their other aircraft types. In economy. However, it is noticeably more quiet, and the extra fuselage width gives a little more open-ness.

Thanks for the insight. Someone else paid for me to fly to KL business class when I was self-employed. From what I remember the back of a (self-funded) A380 is quieter than business on a 747, or do I have memory problems?I've also been in business class on the A380 with Emirates (to KL), usually in conjunction with the other leg of my journey on a 777. The individual seating pods in the A380 are nice compared to the arrangement in their 777s, and the bar is an interesting concept (gets quite interesting in heavy turbulence).
I'm sure it'll be there same for you in Economy, that the single biggest thing that impressed me was how much more quiet it is compared with the 777. It was instantly noticeable once the pilot throttled up for takeoff, I was very impressed.

Flew in a Qantas A380 from Sydney to London via Singapore in Economy. Best (economy) long haul flight I've ever been on. Seemed like I had a lot more space, pretty quiet and an excellent entertainment system. A welcome contrast to the knackered BA 747 full of miserable old crows I flew out on.
I fly regularly to Manila with Emirates - A380 from AMS-DXB and then 777 to MNL. Company pays the bill so if I book with enough time I fly business, but have also been in Economy and upgraded myself on the 380 to a first class suite.
As has already been said - cabin is generally quieter from an outside / engine / aircon noise. I find the cabins lighter also than the 777 - but then I think that generally the lighting in most of Airbus's aircraft make the cabins more light than the equivalent Boeing fleets.
Behind the engines is generally quieter and the entertainment system with Emirates is probably one of the most comprehensive around.

Flown business class to Singapore quite a few times and been lucky enough to have been upgraded to 1A twice on the run back to London... absolute luxury, even got the hostess's number ;-)
It was Qantas mind you, not Emirates...
Its a great plane, very quite a comfortable, a lot better than the 747 imo.

I've flown LHR to DXB on the A380 quite a few times (including upgrades to Business).
It's a fantastic plane, and having yet to try an 787 flight, the 380 is a huge leap forward in terms of comfort.
The upstairs bar is pretty good fun, and certainly makes the flight pass quickly, though knowing I'm heading onto an ageing A340 for the next leg is always a bit of a let down.
Emirates - upgrade the aircraft on your DXB - DUR route!!!!
