Hi folks not sure if this is in the right section here...

I got 2 new tyres put on the back of the car today as the old ones were a bit dicey. Monday gone I had both near side alloys refurbished at a body shop. I know should of been the other way round!

Anyways long story short got the tyres fitted walked into the bay and a chunk of paint taken out the rim on the rear ns wheel and there is a thin scratch round the outside of the rim.
Walked round the other side and there are small chips out of the un-restored wheel.

They said since its been restored the paint is too thin/soft and not their fault. And refurbished wheels will always chip. Might be something to do with a 20" alloy and a 30 profile tyre!

I was also informed that all Tyre Fitters have a disclaimer in their receipts to state this! Great after the event.

Anyone heard of this one before?

Sorry cant really help but what I will say is that I only allow the main dealer to change my tyres. I think a Jaguar dealer is less likely to damage the wheels and if they did then I feel they'd be more inclined to repair the damage. They've never damaged my 20" rims. Yet.......

Perhaps I'm being optimistic here?!

I know what you mean but some of the stories I have heard about the ones round here makes me wonder.

Your right about the come back if anything goes wrong though! Reputation and all that.

My tyre fitter puts a protective plastic trim over the rim, maybe it is because they are a refurbisher as well but they have never damaged a wheel yet and I give them a lot of BBS to do as well as painted 20" like Sentas

Total rubbish they should be able to fit tyres without damaging wheel paint etc.
They are just rubbish at their job.
I had wheels returned (albeit badly) the rims were not marked where the tyres were fitted and removed again to re do the wheel refurb at a decent place rather than the one I tried in Exeter.
