Does anyone have any experience of this? I have about twenty unused ex-rental discs which I would like to remove the Amazon rental labels from.

They appear to be very similar to the labels which Lovefilm use now on their Bluray discs and I presume that a good deal of effort went into making them difficult to remove...

If you can remove the label stock / substrate and get to the adhesive you should be able to remove it with oil. Label adhesives are often pressure activated water based acrylics and these adhesives should be degraded by oils ( try olive oil or baby oil ) If anyone suggests using WD40, which is a moisture repellant and a good label remover, don't do it because WD40 and polycarbonate ( DVDs & CDs ) really do not get on well.

Thanks. I wasnt going to try WD40 or hairdryers... hehe

I do have some De-Solv-It, but Im wary of using it as its quite aggressive.

I suspect that theyll need to be removed with a scraping razor blade.

Fantastic moderation! This has everything to do with adhesives and NOTHING to do with DVDs.
