I bought a Morris axle on ebay yesterday, arrived today, quick brush off and red lead primer tonight, actually nearly warm out there.

Fair play to you... been sorting out the garage for the last week (chopping up most of the contents to go on the logburner if the truth be known) and it has stayed well below zero. It's actually colder in than it is out! Chopping wood is okay but I draw the line at working on a six hundredweight cast iron heatsink.
A mate of mine who's garage is attached to the house with a bedroom above has been complaining that it has dropped as low as 11, yes eleven degrees in his... grrr....

11 degrees? such a wimp ....

I used to have to work in the snow with only a pair of knitted swimming trunks to keep me warm. Each night my father would return home from down t'Pit and beat me with icicles until I was stiff enough for mother to use me as a draining board while she washed pots in the snow.

No I did the boat in a tent, she's in there now, won't be coming out until spring, down the road in the boatyard.

Last year I finally got a Gordon Keeble (I'm very lucky), we demolished the garage, the shed, the greenhouse, the raised beds and the compost heap and built me a new 'manshed', big enough for 3 cars, the E type, the Keeble and the Morris, its a bit of a struggle to move about in there, but generally I only intend to have one car in there. (as I said, very lucky).
