My poor little 96 MX-5 Merlot 1.8 is off the road at the moment, friend looked at it and my cat convertor is gone, I'm going to order a de-cat but I have no idea what size mines is, it's not an import if that helps? What information would I need to give you for you to be able to tell me?

Thanks!

You will need a cat for MoT time though as it won't pass the emisions test without one.

You don't need a cat. You just need to know a nice MOT tester who loves his cans of carling wink

I'd suggest measuring, as although theres guidelines on which cars have which size, it doesnt always seem to work out.

Even if you park up on a high kerp you should be able to get under far enough to measure, the exhaust hangs quite low under the vehicle.

I wouldn't recommend visiting various MoT stations asking if the operators are open to bribes though. Most MoT stations wouldn't falsify an MoT as they will lose their certification to carry out MoTs if caught. The MoT is all computerised now so the only way to falsify the emissions test is to test a different car and put that through as your car. Not many places are happy to do that for the general public.
