Just wondering how the proposed negotioations or leaving the EU would
affect the transport sector seeing as most of the rules and regulations we currenty run under are from the EU like drivers hours, speed limiters ,tachographs etc????

i wondered this aswell, would we go back to the days off clearing customs at each countries border?
i'm sure we'd get stopped alot more in france and germany smile

With any luck we'd see less foreigners on the roads over here. Maybe even better wages due to being less eastern Europeans over here driving for next to nothing.

Aren't British domestic hours about the same as EU ones?

As regards to international haulage, EU countries would still have no borders right? So British drivers would he able to drive anywhere on the continent the same as for example a Turkish hgv would.

So not all bad really...

You are being really naive, government has always blamed the EU at every opportunity even though they agreed with the principle of said laws. As for cheap eastern European labour, you will find that businesses would not survive paying higher wages.

If we leave the EU then we have the opportunity to make a new set of UK regs instead of keeping the old 1968 ones

We would probably be under AETR regs if going outside the UK and they are virtually the same as EU regs nowadays

I got my licence not long after customs and t forms ended as such, so have never done it, so am clueless???
On the tours, when running into Swiss, Norway, Russia etc we have to do customs, but that's all on carnets!

So not much difference then ???? pity It would nice to let the old FH rip,see that needle pass the 90 kph mark and set the cruise on a nice steady 100 kph while I rip up all the tacho charts driving

For member states and countries on the waiting to join list, which wouldn't include the UK, so you can pretty much guarantee British trucks would sit at borders for days waiting for the paperwork to be inspected.

I expect the driver CPC will be dropped within 5 years, France wont have anything to do with it anyway.
From memory EU driving hours are better or at least similar to what our old domestic ones used to be.
I haven't driven a truck abroad for at least 35 years so how easy is it to get in and out of the UK at the moment and do you still have to stop at each country's border and get your T form stamped?
Do you still need travel permits, are they freely available or do you still print your own wink

I don't see us ever leaving the EU, any referendum will be worded so as to cause confusion for the general masses and can easily be rigged anyway.

agree with your thoughts on us leaving the eu.
just seems a nice little ploy by cameron to get himself in again next time around, and worry the germans and co a little bit.

yep t forms and permits still a pain smile



free movement everywhere pretty much, just need to do customs for non e.u states.
most are done relatively straight forward, swiss and norway fine, not sure on turkey, not been yet, but going this year when we do a job to istanbul.
russia is a regal pain in the butt, 12 hours is the average, and we jump the queue and have fixers, so god knows what its like if your at the back of the queue?
