Chaps

Looking at an Élan +2 project.

Car was painted in cellulose and then stored.

Is apparently in good shape - but I know nothing of the world of paint.

Is cellulose paint on fibreglass good/correct?

It is historically correct When the car was built, cellulose was pretty much the only game in town.

Period accurate it may well be, but it fades badly, goes flat and never ever stops moving about!

if i were redoing it right now i would 2K base coat to get the colour, and clear laquer to get the anti fade shine, with a nice stable material. or alternatively you could use a 2K solid colour, and just kaquer the outside. that can look amazing and again stops the fading and going flat. i have a thirty year old unused MGB shell here that we have just done that way and it looks AMAZING!!!
