Okay, so a bit of a rant... but when did the UK become the scammer capital of Europe? I've placed my car for sale in the usual places (main three) and have had no end on potential scams, including elaborate websites claiming to purchase your vehicle, silly Western Union fraud type e-mails, Fleabay login scams, text offers, requests to scan and send a copy of the V5 etc. bandit

It has been a while since I've sold a car. You used to get the odd tyre kicker and silly offer, but most were pretty genuine. Now it seems to be a field day for fraudsters and scammers... many of which are totally blatant.

Then I began to think as to why politicians didn't do something about it and reminded myself that most of them are the biggest scammers of all, having developed a myriad of ways to skim money from the public.

What next? House sales? curse

Are we worse than the rest of europe? Maybe - but that is likely a language thing if that is so I reckon.

For most of us - its just a pain but some people are taken in by scammers and the scammers are getting cleverer with their scams.

But I am curious - what can politicians do exactly about this? If you have an ideas then please let us know as I am sure if they are sensible then they could be implemented.

Can they stop scammers emailing you or calling you when you advertise a car for sale?

Its a major pain to sell a car, I have just sold the wifes Zafira and the amount of scammers trying it on is getting ridiculous.

Then you have to deal with a certain demographic who seem incapable of coherent speech, god forbid you put your mobile number on an ad, you end up with a million 'whatz ur bezt prics' texts or stupid offers of half of what you have advertised the car for.

There really are some thick illiterate folk out there, but you have to deal with them as ultimately they might be a genuine buyer.

I now have a cheap payg phone for selling stuff, it gets switched off and put back in the drawer till next time I need it.

Trying to sell my car at the moment, the amount of crap I've had through already is so annoying! Emails ranging from "I realy wana buy this car, msg me" to "Is this the diesel version". I never knew Ford made a diesel Fiesta ST!
