any ideas on the best wire for piping on a model car seat

tried some wire i have but its hard to push it down while it sticks

Can you not take the wire out of it's sheilding and just use the plastic?

would be too thick , needs to be prety thin as i dont want it looking false and out of scale

what sort of thickness do you think i should order? is .5mm too fat?

same as solder right?

Guess it depends on the size of the seat! Test it with various bits of wire to see what looks best, measure the diameter and order the nearest size you can.

Same as solder - you bend it, it stays bent.

In 1/24 scale, 0.5mm is nearly half an inch!

cant see any smaller than .4mm on ebay

anyone find anything suitable..i cant really measure accuratley what i need

I've got a few bits here on an old Tamiya 1:24 Honda S2000 seat:



The three sizes there are 0.5mm, 0.3mm & 0.2mm

any tips on fitting this stuff..without making a mess or sticking my fingers to the seat lol

I would say you're going to have to create self supporting shapes that will hold themselves onto the seat and then as dr_gn suggests, use Klear to hold them. You'll need to create several sets of shapes and do it in stages. It's not going to be easy and it may end up looking a touch messy.

To be honest, I'd be looking at achieving what you want through paint effect.

hmmm yeah i cant see me doing a super clean job..will see how it goes
