Ni No Kuni : Wrath of the White Witch
Discussion
Anyone else picking this up for the PS3 ?
It's developed by Level 5 and Studio Ghibli, makers of anime including Spirited Away, Howls Moving Castle etc. It's getting some excellent reviews.
I think it's out been out for a while on the DS.
Metacritic
Some people seem to believe it's a kids game because of the animation style and look but I've heard it can be challenging, in fact too hard for children, with depth in the boss fights. Has anyone played it on the DS ? Was it a childrens game ?
Here's EpicNameBro talking about it, warning some spoilers.

I'm about 7 hours or so into this and it's excellent.
There are a few downsides, the transition between text and VA can be a bit jarring, I just don't understand how you can have VA for half a conversation and then text dialogue for the second half... It's made worse when the voice work is so good, Mr Drippy is just brilliant.
The story is fine if a bit try hard to be emotional, for those playing and have got to meet Mertyl (sp?), the scene in her bedroom as she's talking about why she can't leave and her father.... Drippy in the background wearing the hat made me laugh!
Their are AI issues with your companions in combat but aside from that the combat system works well enough, a sort of real time / turn based affair. I thought at the start it was going to be too easy and was worried about it only having easy and medium... There are some drastic difficulty spikes though!
It looks beautiful and the music is wonderful for the game.
Also, look at this!
Ni No Kuni #1 in UK Charts!
All formats as well. It knocked off Call of Duty!
That's pretty good, a PS3 exclusive JRPG taking all formats #1 spot! It's great to see what is probably seen as a niche game do so well. My faith in gaming somewhat partially restored...
Another favourite Mr Drippy line so far:
On asking a grieving Oliver if he will help save his world and Oliver saying no, he cant...
