I was recommend Footman James by previous owner who kept it on the street in Tottenham, used to pay £170.. I keep it now in a "garage" in my back garden, there is rear access off a lane. I am 50 and the premium is £137 fully comp restricted mileage 5000 miles.
Hope this helps. I tried adding it to a multi car policy with Admiral who I use for my and my partners daily drivers, but they said no. Performance Direct who covered me on my MGB were £230.

Last year cost me £136 with A-plan.
1990 S3, agreed value £5K
43 years old, car is garaged, 5000 miles max, incl. commuting.
Did'nt bother to phone anyone else! also paid the same for the last 2 years.
Paul.
PS.
Never had to claim (touch wood) until you do, you never know how good the insurance company is.

Try http://www.rhclassicinsurance.co.uk/
I'm pleased with my "deal", includes UK and European breakdown and recovery and when things did go a little wrong my claim was sorted reasonably efficiently.
And, should the worst happen (
) the salvage becomes yours, if you want it, you don't have to buy it back which in effect reduces the payout.
Regards comparing what others are paying, this seems to be a "minefield".
Similar cars, similar age persons, similar areas etc. etc. but owner A gets good deal from broker X and high price from broker Y whereas owner B gets exactly the opposite !

Try www.peterstaylor.co.uk I've been with them for a couple of years and they tailor the insurance to suit. The policy is with Allianz and its' been good value for me.
The only slight hassle I had was for the agreed value which needed a signed valuation from a 'specialist', usually the company who service the car etc which is a pain when you do it yourself.

David Geralds did me a valuation, think it was only a tenner. I do my own maintenance, not a regular customer.phillpot said:

Exactly my experience. There's no shortcut to a good quote - you have to ring round. I'm fussy about my insurance and have to shop around to get the exact cover I want. I also have other 'rules', like avoiding companies that take more than four minutes to connect you to a live person when you phone them! If I can't get agreed value without a written valuation, I move on (I just don't need the hassle). For what it's worth, I'm with Peter Best and have found them competitive and very pleasant to deal with.

Good luck!
