ATAC vs Eggbeaters for Dodgy Knees
Discussion
Well, my knees are not that dodgy, but I find no matter what I do with spds, my knees feel slightly twisted outwards, especially my right one. I twist the cleat in the shoe as far as it goes and leave as much float in the pedal as I can without making it pointless, but it still doesnt feel right.
Reading a setup post on bike radar and some reviews, it suggested ATAC give a bit more float and perhaps even eggbeaters too.
Apologies of this is a repost, but search function is a norwegian blue, so would like to hear peoples experiences

I've had knee problems in the past, and now run nothing but egg beaters/candy's great pedals for knee's, the only downside is the bearings do need more maintenance than most pedals. The other thing worth looking at is the Ergon cleat adjustment tool, basically a ruler and protractor that fits on the cleat allowing you to measure exactly where it is, ideal if you use more than one pair of shoes.
I take it you're talking MTB? Have you consideres a decent set of flats and five ten shoes? Would allow you to shift your foot position throughout a ride. I'm not recommending them as I have no experience with them whatsoever but worth thinking about. Superstar components do some very nice flats...
If you're talking road then you can't beat these:

Both eggbeater and ATAC's should provide you with the float you need.
I have not used ATAC's myself, but from all user accounts they are very robust and reliable.
Older eggbeaters needed some TLC, but were excellent if you looked after them. Newer eggbeaters are more reliable and I think they have a 5 year warranty.
Personally I use Look Quartz pedals and I would consider those as well. Very much fit and forget compared to eggbeaters and a feel that is somewhere between eggbeater and shimano in use.

Same problem here and I have beaters on 2 MTBs and candys on my road bike, saves messing around with cleats as I wear my winter boots on road and MTB. Knees are a lot better since sropping my old Shimanos. Only replaced one set of bearings due to loosing the end cap, new ones are siliconed in. Im so happy with the CB kit Ive just bought a set of Mallets for my bouncer and some Candy 2s for my new cross bike.
