LEGAL advice needed, big online shop RIPS me off £450
Discussion
hi all, ive come to the end of my patience with this issue:
6 months ago, i purchased a cooker from
.
i had to pay by bank transfer (450£)
however, the next day, and before the item was delivered, i cancelled the order as it would be the wrong size for my kitchen.
i naturally asked for my money back.
6months later..........stil no refund!!!!. despite numerous calls to their customer services, and emails, and a written letter. They did not reply to my letter, but on the phone they keep saying they wil send a cheque....
I am out of ideas, and very frustrated.
Can i take legal action, what is the best way????
thanks!!

Is this them?

If so, issue a moneyclaim online against them.
If that's them, then they are not a big online shop. They were only incorporated in 2010 and in their accounts to 31 Aug 2011 they only had net assets of £1104. They have one shareholder and one director, a

.Anybody asking me to pay via bank transfer would have rung alarm bells straight away, I wouldn't have touched them with a barge pole. There are loads of companies offering cheap cheap prices for stuff online, but you dod need to do some due diligence and i'd rather pay a few £s more for something and use a company I know or have been recommended.
Good luck getting your money back, if you live near Leicester it may be worth going to their address and having a face to face chat, would be harder for them to fob you off.

Yeah bank transfer should set alarm bells immediately.
Credit card all the way. Otherwise protection is painful.

I only ever use a credit card for any online purchase - even if it is only £20-30. I had a similar problem when my wife ordered a new bed for our son. A week after the delivery date and no bed. I then tried to call the company but it quickly dawned on me that the internet company wan't as legit as the website would have you believe.
I called my cc company to explain I think this company have taken my £250 with no intention of delivering goods and I can't get in touch with the company via phone or email. They were fantastic. All they said to me was "No problem sir, the money has been refunded. We will handle it from here. Don't speak to the company even if they contact you - we are dealing with it now". Less than 5 minutes on the phone and my money was back. Not a single form to fill in, nothing, and I haven't heard anything about it since.
I know this is little use to you now and £450 is quite a sum to lose but for anyone reading this - when purchasing anything ever on the net, use a credit card.
