I want to get a new TV. Budget about £500, size required circa 32"

I've had a look at a few websites and seen recommendations for each type, but not really the negatives.

I don't want 3D (even if the budget would stretch to it)

I don't have subscriptions to sports or movie channels but watch a lot of films on blueray.

I was thinking LED but interested in guidance / experiences / advice on that vs LCD or plasma

Thanks

No new plasma TVs at 32".
The picture on my 32" LED Panasonic TV is better than my 32" LCD Panasonic TV (bought one year earlier)

I would suggest an IPS (or equivalent) display as they give much wider viewing angles.

Don't worry Pedantic Pete will be along soon to say that LED TVs are actually LCD.

I was actually looking at a Panasonic

But I can't see a reference to IPS in the spec

I think LED is worth the extra over traditional LCDs as I've had a couple of the old style backlights fail (get dark patches)

A quick look at the Panasonic website for TX-L32E5B gives "Panel IPS LED LCD"

It appears to be:
  • £399 at Currys
  • £429.95 at John Lewis with their 5 year warranty
