I've had a Samsung UE46EH5300 delivered this morning.

I just plugged the aerial straight into the back to get it set up (i.e. no peripherals), but it won't download any of the Freeview HD channels, just the regular SD channels.

It's listing a DVB-T2 tuner in the spec on this site.

There doesn't seem to be anything special to do during the set up (I've run this twice now) or in the manual.

And my area certainly has Freeview HD coverage!

Any ideas?

It's a minefield mate, but on the off chance I might be wrong, as the other poster
mentioned, the HD channels are tucked away on channel numbers 101/102/103/104
so give those numbers a try and see what happens, but i'm pretty sure that it isn't
FreeView HD

They're definitely not there.

My Humax is HD, so as soon as I get an HDMI lead I'll be ok, but I'm just annoyed that th TV isn' doing what it's advertised to do.

Reviews state it has an HD tuner. Might be worthwhile getting in touch with the supplier as it maybe faulty.

You have probably checked this but my Panny Plasma has a freeview tuner and you'll find normal SD BBC, ITV and Channel 4 around the channels 1 - 5 mark and their HD equivalents up around the 50s.

You may need to retune it. All the HD channels were moved before Christmas to 101 though to 104. There has been another one since that restores "Dave ja vu" and adds Moviemix. There are a few other changes to the sell, scam and flesh channels as well.

Dave ja vu is on a different Multiplex so even if the "old" one is still showing you do need to retune the tv.

Can I ask for a clue as which retailer it was?

It might be that it's a European model, which sometimes have problems with British channels

Is the signal strong enough? You usually can check the strength on the tv somewhere. The hd channels need a strong signal.

I think this may be the issue. Have got an HDMI cable now and connected my Humax HD. It finds the HD channels, but they're broken up when you try and watch them.

So the Samsung must be ignoring them as the signal is too weak.

I live in the middle of a large town, FFS. I don't suppose the signal is going to get any better now the 'switch' is complete.

You do need a decent aerial as well. Did you have Freeview before?

Check the Aerial leads. I find that the "weaker" signals respond to a good lead. In fact I now make my own buying in the connectors and getting a decent cable.

Have as few connections as possible to prevent signal loss
