OK so the forum wants activity.

We have a G96 sitting behind an LS1.
Up front we have a standard Porsche shifter which may get a quick shift kit fitted to it at some time.

So, are there any off the shelf cables that will fit?

Does anyone have pictures of suitable brackets on the 'box?

Anything else I need to be aware of?

Many thanks
Steve

Hi Steve,

I have the same box, and I managed to use the factory cables which were fine.

As for the brackets, I used the factory ones which work... but there is not a lot of work to make them yourself, so if you want, when I get a chance I will measure for you....

Wanted to post a picture of mine, but Thumbsnaps is screwed, and has been for the last month or so.. sometimes it works, sometimes it take 5 or 6 goes before it uploads properly... and so slow...

I will try again later...

PM me if you like, and I will send that way....

cheers

Have you checked Cableshifts range Steve... not expensive for what you get... although not a blingy product they work very well... even on a stubborn 4 speed !

Steve Control Cables, controlcables.com in Santa Fe California builds custom cables to your spec. This is who did my cables for my side shifter on the G50. Lee

For sake of ease, why not just buy from the factory? I don't think there's any benefit in mucking around when the factory have it all sorted for simple installation.

you might want to reconsider that suggestion before you commit to it. To my knowledge, the factory has never supported a side shifter on a G50 series transaxel. if you are using a shifter and transaxel supported by the factory, yes, they would be my first source. But if its not both of the above, then the lenght of the cables becomes very important and you need to get as close as possible without being too short. I suggested this company because they build a quality product with great service. Also if you are contemplating changing to a cable operated shifter CMS in Arizona makes a quality shifter. Lee

?? OP is asking about G96 with std Porsche shifter. This is supported by the factory.... I have a G96/50 with a Porsche shifter and the standard factory cables. Couldn't be simpler smile

Make absolutely sure that you call Cable Controls.

They upsized my cable diameter after speaking with me about the application and it made for a giant improvement in shifter feel. If you have the thin black cables from them, remeasure and ask for the green colored cables.
