After hearing about closed M6 overnight and looking out of the window and seeing snow on the road, I figured I'd still have to go to work or I wouldn't get paid.
House in St Annes on sea, Lancashire, work in Manchester. Time 6am. Distance 50 miles

Left house, fired up heavy V8 auto barge on summer tyres, popped down to seafront to find large empty carpark to do donuts for 5 mins, visited petrol station (it's a jaag) every road covered in frozen slush, yet other cars right up my back bottom and I wasn't dawdling unnecessarily.
Motorways were clear but only inside lane was useable, flooring pedal lit up traction control light and got wobble at any speed.
Lorry jackifed on M61 but conveniently had done it at a junction so was able to go round and re join.
Ice all over turn onto M60, thought I might die but the old boat went round the corner with only the mildest understeer.
Arrived at work thankful it had at least been quiet, few more donuts in the carpark, then inside for a brew.
I hope everyone who got stuck managed to get to their destination. it all seems to be melting now.
