I'm interested in the steve heath/dave wallis conversion as I like the idea of keeping costs low and re-using most orginal parts. I'd do the CTS/qauife T5 as I don't intend to go to santa pod- most of my driving is in central london or a highway drive away on a weekend.

I see steve heath has closed shop to do his PhD (I'm also doing mine..) so I'm wondering if the conversion parts are still available?

Talk to some of the customers of these conversions. Suggest you find a highly recommended LS company who can deliver the right product, well executed and without months or years of issues.

well, I'd like to take the DIY approach work wise, but I don't want to re-invent the wheel...

I've seen flyingdutchie on here has some ECU issues, but I haven't noticed mechanical issues; so I figure an adaptor plate and engine mounts would be the main bits, perhaps a new fuel pump as well. I could always go Emerald or indeed stick to the GM ECU (i've had a ton of chev powered holdens back in Oz)

Sell the T5 it works out cheaper to buy a 6 speed by the time you modded the T5,bellhousing,clutch and not forgetting the hassle

thats quite possibly true. T56's are plentiful and cheap and do take a good amount of abuse (had one in a stroked LS1 in a dual throttle body VNSS Group A Commodore).

Problem is, I live in central london- which is covered in speed humps. The bigger gear boxes seem to necessitate the exhaust pipes to be lower than the chassis, which would not be helpful for where I drive.. this was my primary driver so to speak.

nope, not made my mind up... happy to entertain other options- actually my main constraint is speed hump clearance with the exhaust pipes lower than than the chassis if using the T56 box (otherwise I'd be happy with a t56 box..)

Perhaps this is a solution:

They apparently aren't doing any more of these conversions. The two routes you have are either a DIY or Topcats. Though I'm sure other engineering firms would be happy to help...

I would suggest having a work with Jellison as he has experience of doing his own LS6/Chimera conversion, not a Cerbera I know but must be similar enough.

Sydney as I said Boosted cerb has done all this & there is a thread on here showing how he has fitted the T56 & kept the exhausts up inside the chassis rails while useing larger bore pipes.

Thanks for the great comments guys, its good to get some encouragement after all the hard work.

Just to answer a few questions.

Chassis mods were minimal, new engine mounting post were installed but everything else was just heating up some of the tubes and hitting them with a hammer to give a bit of clearance here and there. Nothing more than TVR did themselves on particular bits of the chassis. All other chassis work was repair work. From below, my outriggers looked ok, but on top (only visible with a body lift) they were perished.

The T56 will fit without fouling the transmission tunnel but the chassis indentations just give a bit more clearance. One of my biggest concerns was knocking noises when it first went on the road but all seems good so far.

Traction control is the adjustable Race Logic system with the funky digital adjuster. I've installed the wheel sensors but I need to wire the system up.

Hopefully take it along to a few TVRCC events, I'm on the boarder between Hants and Dorset so should make both their monthly meets at some point.

Cost wise I'd rather not say, not because its alot of money, far from it, more because it would just be a total sum of parts, remember I've paid nobody any labour for this. Read through my previous threads and you find costs for the engine conversion.

Rich.

I'm now leaning on going down the route of G20V6 and BoostedCerb; difference being I'm going for a stock ls3, and will probably go with 2.25" or 2.5" pipes which should sit a bit more flush.

Just use a tko 600 and the pipes will fit , the tr6060 is almost identical in size to the t56 , the 6th gear lump is the problem

Hi Craig..

Good to hear from you again. I decided to take the plunge with a T56. It's the one with the closer ratio's and comes from a 6.0 litre VXR. Somewhere this year...

Like others have have said if you want to go the DIY route boostedcerb would be a wealth of knowledge as would stevespg who has a wealth of experience fitting LS engines at home most recently in a Griff!
As Graig said i'd lean towards the TKO600 which i run on a stock LS3.
What throttle and ECU do you plan on useing?
Good luck with your build
