Classic cars are the way forward. I am so bored of modern stuff.

Cool, nice car, but why the Ghia Wheels, I thought the 'S' got the RS style four spokes ? or was it year dependant, 78 is quite and early MK3.

I suppose so, £21,392 wouldn't get anything in that segment now.

The guardian : ' By 1978 GPs made £9,785, judges £14,530 and your average man in an office £5,236.40. MPs got £9,450 a year '

Nice find, I loved my old mk3, however mine was only at 2.0s

If I remember correctly it was about £80.00 a week, so the car was costing about a years wages.

No the wheels were standard fitment in 1978, the others came later....

Here's the Capri again, with my later one, a 1979 GL model...

I had two previously, a 1976 Mk 2 in orange and a 1977 Mk 2 in white.

The first (orange) one was bought from Cowies in Blackburn, and the second one from Skippers, (now Evans Halshaw) in Burnley....smile

Great reminder of how things used to be. Recaros for 64 quid smile
My 1979 orange 2.0S had the same wheels as those on the OP's 3 litre. I recall paying 2800 quid in about 1983 - a fortune then, although it was from Ford main dealer Cordiners in Aberdeen. Was gutted I was unable to afford a larger engined variant at the time.
