Oulton Park have a day coming up at £99. I haven't done a track day in my own car, so what do you budget for before doing it?

It's a 92 MX5, just been serviced. New pads on the front, fresh tyres.

Would £300 cover all the costs from a track day? Or should I allow for more?

Depends on where you live, how many laps you do, what tyres you're running and if you crash (or not)...

Are the pads road going ones? if so they'll get eaten if they overheat. Best to get track specific ones if you can and fit them for the TD. I'd imagine 300 should cover most things, but yeah as said above, don't prang it smile enjoy

I'm 20 miles from Oulton Park, I would be driving there, hopefully not damaging anything, and driving home again.

If anything goes south, ill not have a car for work on Monday.

I'd love to be out all day, open pitlane.. Don't know how much wear that would put on the car though?

What pads and what tyres?? And have you changed the brake fluid?

Suggest you do some short sessions in the morning so you can monitor the wear.. Also gives you a break.

Afternoons can also be quieter, so no point killing the car before lunch..

in an mx5 in the winter on hard road tyres id say £99 trackday, £100-140 petol, £20 pad wear, £20 tyre wear, (i guess not insurance) so your £300 will be ok unless you ram the armco at 120mph smile
