Hi all,

We are looking at buying a new Disco 4 HSE LUX and it comes with 20 inch wheels. I drove the standard HSE on 19 inch wheels and really liked it, but am worried that the larger wheels may compromise the ride a little. Anyone got any experience of both?

Also, what kind of discount can I expect at the moment on one of these ?

Cheers.

From my experiance with D4's on 19" and 20" wheels and tyres;

Not as much choice in tyres with 20" wheels, ride is a tad firmer as well.

Think it's up to what your requirements are TBH.

Find most of my customers prefer 19" because of ride and tyre choice and cost.

I'm sure the dealership would swap the wheels over from something else if you needed, someone with 19s might want the 20s.

As above i thought the dealership would love to give you a free downgrade to better wheels

Wot Sarge said... ^^^

Personally, I think 255s are a better tyre width for these cars anyway.

My Disco 4 had 19" which I preferred on that vehicle since I had it set up for proper off-roading.

My RRS has 20" and while they are still reasonably comfortable generally thanks to the air-suspension, I wouldn't use them for much off-road use.

So...if the car is likely to venture off-road, then no, if not, then yes.

All good advice, thanks guys. The car wont be going off road, so 20's it is. We have a 5 series touring that has 19 inch wheels and they ruin the ride. I was keen not to make the same mistake again!

Our D4 runs on 20" wheels in the summer and 19's in the winter with winter tyres. The ride with 19's is marginally better but you get a little more roll when making progress. The air suspension is excellent and the ride with 20's fitted is very good and should be way better than a BMW with 19" run flats.
