So having been to look at 4 or 5 Mk1's now, a few hours drive away in most cases, last night one popped up on trader, within 5 minutes walk of my house!

Went and had a look, nice enough little car. Bit of a dent in one side behind the door, but nothing that is going to worry me.

Just waiting for bank transfer to go through then can go and pick it up! Can't wait.

Picked it up at half 6 with half a tank - only just got back, with an almost empty tank.... and the car was only half a mile from my house hehe

Absolutely love it. It took 20 mins or so of me thinking "have I made a mistake here..." and not really enjoying the drive - until I got out of "barge" mode and started driving it properly. Grinning from ear to ear smile

When I picked it up I started it up, and dropped the roof while I was talking to the old owner...

He: What are you doing?
Me: Taking the roof down.
He: But.... its freezing?
Me: Its got a heater though, and I've got a hat smile
He: I think I only had the roof don twice last year...
Me: If I have to leave it up twice this year, I'll be sad

And off I went, with him thinking I was some kind of loon! Pics at the weekend when I have time!

So glad I bought one!

Has the hideous mpg surprised you yet? I remember when I got my first, hadn't done any real research into them beforehand. Still love the things though, i'll be looking to buy number four quite soon!

Need to get a few things sorted first, but definitely want to get on the track. Didn't realise CC was under an hour away either!

As for MPG - yes its low the way it has been driven so far hehe But it is no worse than the Audi 80 it is replacing, and is better than the Impreza that the Audi replaced - so mustn't grumble!

Have fun getting to know your new ride - I've had my Mk1 just over 2 months now, still getting to know what she'll do, and loving every second of it!
