so after over 3 years of owning my C2 it is finally time to part ways. it has served me well through learning to drive and attending nearly every SS in the past 2+ yrs, it wasnt that quick or well built but it was actually pretty good and i really good first car to me as it never broke down once and was generally pretty good, here is the last picture i have of it.

a bit dirty

and then today i picked up this albi blue 197, the wheels are a bit darker than i wanted but the rest of the car is actually quite good with just a few cosmetic bits of pieces for me to sort out and also some need to get some good tyres on it as the garage put on some ditchfinder piece of st. hehe will probably swap to conti 5s rather than the pirelli nero zeros on it at the moment. body work is in fairly good condition and just needs to be tidied up a bit in some places but that is to be expected of an early car like this. here are a few pictures i took when i collected it today, will get some better pictures soon.

the garage said the new exhaust is a KTEC catback although I'm not sure as the tips look a bit different. the car also comes with climate control which is nice and the cabasse 6 cd stereo which is pretty nice. the previous owner put an ipod connector in and one of the things i need to sort out is the stereo distorts at high volume which is annoying but im hoping its just to do with the sub thing that is in the boot and what the owner put all the settings to.

hope you guys find this slightly interesting and the car will be at silverstone next month for you guys to stare at in a big empty cold carpark. hehe

Hang on. I thought some of the delay for collection was down to your cherished number transfer? So why is it not displayed?!

I put the plate on retention rather than just swapping it straight over, I paid £4.5k for it.

just having a look at my car today and just realised its running a milltek exhaust, not a ktec which is what the garage said. slightly embarrassing as it is written on the exhaust tips. hehe

Good upgrade!

Looking to do something similar myself, keep my polo for a few years until I can afford something a bit quicker, can't wait.

I think I remember reading your C2 thread if you created one on here?

What a great progression, I'd expect the 197 feels like a rocketship in comparisson

Nice jump from the C2. Very impressed with how well the C2 lasted.
Look forward to seeing it at SS

Nice, wheels are to dark though.....gunmetal grey would look good.

Keep an eye out for 1 or 2 of those Recaro buckets, they really make the 197/200's feel rather nice indeed.

I think the wheels look ace. Not that keen on Millteks though, good sound but even the non-res models aren't loud enough to excite, though they do have a better tone than a standard items, and the build quality occasionally falls way short of acceptable, but if yours is still in one piece now then chances are it will last until the apocalypse. They are a good option if your OEM rusts away (common on RS cars) and you aren't bothered what your car sounds like. Still, they are worth a bit to sell should you want something exciting.
