Started with a "simple" slave fix..

Now it's.. A cracked exhaust manifold, new exhaust system, chassis clean up and paint.. That's only the so far list..

Is welding a manifold a long term fix or a putting off the inevitable?

I would say it is putting off what will be inevitable.

Mine was cracked a few years ago, got the ACT balanced system which released a bucket load more power and a noise that just can't be described. I have managed to crack one of the manifolds in a weld on this but even after a couple of years it was replaced by ACT FOC even though it was very repairable, top service!

I have been looking at the ACT manifolds.. Pricey, but look so good.. Hmmmmm.

Have you any clips of the sound?

Oops.. Forgot the passenger mirror door switch, drivers door wiring and relay to sort the immobiliser issues (for now/to 100% confirm the issue).

I will continue to have mine repaired until they become impractical to fix. A weld is always cheaper than a new manifold (if you're doing the R&R yourself).

They do start to 'splay' somewhat over time, so that definitely doesn't help, but you simply have to price it up. New parts rarely add value, but they certainly add cost.

Cheaper yes.. How long does yours last between weldings? Have you have any sort of 'brace' added? There is cost but then there is not wanting to be removing manifolds every 6 months to have the cheap option done..

I have just ordered ACT ones and having them ceramic coated as both of mine were badly cracked. I will weld the standard ones up and shelf them or what ever. Easy to weld up if prepped well.

I have a thing for stainless is the only reason i splashed out. smile

Opened this expecting snow related banter/pix biggrin

Good luck OP, with Cerbs there's always something. How big or small depends on how much of a perfectionist you are!

Yes there just mild steel. Mine look exactly like that as well one of mine was cracked 360 degrees.

As for you list looks normal to me a bit small, i bet there is plenty to add . hehe
