Depends on the car and what it's been bought for. If I owned a Ferrari 355 I suspect it wouldn't do many miles and would be a bit of a garage queen. Similarly if I had a scruffy old 4x4 purely for winter usage it might not be used very often. I think it's a shame of cars don't get used but sometimes life has other time commitments that mean the hobbies take a back seat.

Besides, you can never have too many cars but there are only so many you can drive at a time. If you can afford to keep it then I don't see any issues with how few miles it's done.

My little Quantum has done around 200 miles in 4 years. Possibly a little more, there was a time when the speedo clunked out on me, but it went from the garage up the road down to the house a few times. I'm loathe to sell it and only really bought it back from it's last owner for sentimental reasons

An aging relative has covered 29 miles in his Lancia Beta coupe between the last two MOTs. He's had it since new and it's unlikely he'll ever part with it though.

Its funny, Low mileage doesn't always mean cared for,

A lot of the low mileage 'gems' I see at work ( '03 - '06 ~10 - 20K miles ) have spent a lot of their life parked up. They often take more work than an average car to get right, mildew around the sills, grime set in to the paint etc.
It can't be too good on the mechanicals of a car either, in extreme cases maybe?

My dad has a 1961 Norton bike that has done 44 miles in about 5 years.
Still holding onto it though!

If a car isn't used properly at least once a week it's time to sell.

And I don't agree at all with the nonsense of "SORNed for the winter".

If you've got the space, then keep it. You'll get next to nothing if you sell it, and you'll always be wishing you hadn't!

I have a 1998 Honda Firestorm in my garage. I bought it new and used to use it regularly for commuting, it's got about 26K mileage now.

I've not ridden it more than 1 mile or so in the last 3 or so years. It's been sorned and not taxed since 2009 or so.

But I'm in no rush to sell it, mainly because I can't be bothered and being a Honda it still starts even after a year of sitting there. If I get another contract where using the bike makes sense it'll be there for me to use again or PX. And, I suspect it wouldn't sell for enough to make it worth my while, it's MY bike and it still looks great! smile
