Chris Hoy presents Racing Legend: Colin MacRae
Discussion
Just watched this last night with a few friends on BBC 2. i recommend that you watch it on iplayer if you missed it
First of all, a big tip of the hat to Sir Chris Hoy for his excellent, in depth and riveting documentary. my doubts about his eligibility for presenting this were quickly laid to rest as soon as i found out how much of a petrol head he is. by the end i could think of nobody better to present it.
most would have gleaned over the early years and gone straight to the WRC. what a joy to see Mcrae senior letting all hell loose with the cossie. i have never missed my mother's (that's right, mother's) cossie more.
fantastic piece of journalism, so much revealed that i never knew, i wish there was more.
what did other people think / take away from it?

Very much agree re Chris Hoy. He always comes across really well (as he did when he met Danny MacAskill and he did a great job on this.
As for the main program, I'm still completely torn on the subject of Colin MacRae. I hold two opposing views, as do many.
He was a brilliant driver and a real champion.
Had he been solo in his helecopter, but everything else about the incident was the same, he would still be worthy of the title 'legend', i.e. always pushing limits without being overly concerned about the consequences.
But he wasn't solo, and I can't help but feel contempt for him for recklessly endangering taking the lives of innocent others.

. Didn't realise they banned the heavily modded Metro from all competitions due to it being too successful!!
IIRC They banned it for safety reasons, a fair few were crashed with terrible outcomes. monthefish said:
