Hi guys,
I was just wondering if someone could solve my latest problem with my heap of a Saxo.
Now there is a thing directly left of the airbox and its got a crack in it, Just wondering as i cant seem to find anywhere what it is and im thick!

This isnt my actual engine bay but one exactly the same,
The three arrows around it are pointing to what bit i mean and the top arrow is pointing to where the crack is.

Also i posted on "saxperience" but the only response i got was pretty much useless!
I had a stereo fitted the end of november just gone, The kid doing it said he had to splice a wire on a piece of wiring that wasnt on the car but that was out of the store, after this my interior light works when ignition is on and so does central locking(didnt before) but my central locking still doesnt work when opening the car, Is this because i just have a standard flat key and not a central locking key? And how would i go about getting a new one of these?
Sorry for the long post just wanted the answers as im worried!
P.s The saxo uses way too much fuel, I'm getting the air filter changed when i service it but would the box thing be contributing to this?
Cheers Guys
Steve

Looks like some sort of vacuum contraption. Which would explain the fuel use.

Pretty sure it's an air duct, so could well be causing high fuel consumption. Certainly won't be helping it at least. Get a bit of gaffa tape on it! wink

That leads to the throttle body, the main air intake for the engine. If it's split, it'll let in what's called un-metered air, which is to say the engine will be sucking in air that's not been measured by the air flow meter and hence the ECU will not be able to compensate for it.
Go to a scrappy and get another one, or at least try to seal with tape. It'll cause all sorts or problems.
Also, your stereo is fitted wrong.

Silicone sealant. Leave it over night, perfect by morning.
