recommend me a quick release boss please!

Wanting a bit of advice/help on the quick release front.

I recently bought a sparco quick release boss which was kinda cheap if I'm being honest, the more I think about it the more I want to get a different one, after all I want to be safe!

I have purchased a momo 27 steering wheel which needs drilling, I'd rather buy a decent boss to start with than buy an OK one...drill holes and then realise I've made a mistake.

I've seen the lifeline quick release weld on boss from jjc race and rally for £135, is this OK? Main use of the car will be on the road with a hand full of track days each years. Link below..

Great piece of kit, neat, lightweight, easy to replace the wheel just slip it on and rotate to find the correct spline then snap it in place, and very little play in the splines on mine after many miles of track use and on / off the column etc.
I do believe there are more expensive ones but if they offer more or not i have no idea as have never owned / used them

I had a Racetech Q/R boss and wheel on my Westie, which I really liked, and the one in your link looks very similar. If I was needing another , I would seriously consider one of these, had a look at one at Stoneleigh a couple of years ago, and looked to be a really nice bit of kit.

Thanks for the comments, I have seen a demonstration of the works bell on YouTube, it does look good but is it worth another £65 over the lifeline one for the use it will be getting?

I have replaced the Racetech with the Rapfix (Works Bell) after the Racetech developed play in the quick release (a common problem). I have used the Rapfix for over 3 years and there is no play plus it is easier to refit the steering wheel. Well worth the extra £65 and give Simon a call at Meteor Motorsport as he can also supply the upper steering column for a Caterham

get the rapfix one with the shaft bit already welded from meteor http://www.meteormotorsport.com/hardware/steering/... , it's then easy to fit and works perfectly

Reassuring that a lot of people are recommending it to be honest, daft question, how does it fit the existing column when you get the pre welded one?

it's just the last 8 inches or so of the column, you unbolt the old bit (under the bonnet) and bolt in the new. Give Simon at meteor a call, he'll talk you through it!

Spoke to Simon and got one on order! Ill let you know when it's on and take some pics, decided to get the one already attached to the steering column.

Sorry Tom, Caterham still in UK, in a different county to the trailer, which is in a different county to the tow car . . .

We're still in another country! Should all be collected together next weekend and then I'll get some pics for you . . .
