Before I go on, I need to qualify what I mean by "tea".

For me, "tea" is a tasty, dark brown, hot drink in which I have a dash of milk and two spoons of sugar.

Anyway, the doc has suggested that my love of tea in the evenings may be a contributory factor with some sleep problems I've been having lately. She's not so concerned about the volume of tea but rather the caffeine.

There's a bit more to this but I'll save it - otherwise Big Al will move this to "Health Matters" and I won't get an answer to my question.

So, are there any caffeine free tea products on the market which taste like real tea?

My current tipple of choice is Tetley Extra Strong (it's scrumptious!).

Something similar (without the caffeine) would be the cat's pyjamas.

To reiterate, I do not seek health advice - just a tea recommendation.

Thanks,

Eric smile

There's quite a few. Twinnings efforts seem to be the best of the bunch IMO.

The PG Tips and Tetleys decaff efforts that the O/H drinks are vile, despite her protests that it tastes no different.
Might get her to try the Twinings ones and see if they're any better.

Hmmm...I've been on decaff tea for >ten years now and I can tell you that I have not found anything as tasty as your chosen tipple. Tetleys or Twinings is as good as it gets.

If you don't need fully decaff, try making a pot with one real teabag and one decaff; effectively gives the flavour and only half the caffeine.

A few years ago I had sleeping problems and I tried switching to decaff. To begin with it just didn't cut the mustard, but after a while I got used to it and the taste became 'normal'. On those first few days of being caffeine free, I couldn't stay awake beyond 9pm, was out for the count.

Having said that, I'm now back on full fat caffeine, which is fine as being self employed I now don't need to stress about waking up at 6am biggrin

We find the decaf Yorkshire Tea is better than the PG/Twinings efforts.

I actually bought some this evening as the wee shop I was in didn't have much choice.

I've just had a cup and it's not too bad at all. smile

This, along with Clipper tea being a very close second. I do find they all need a bit extra brew and wringing time, though.

I know that feeling, coffee for me though. The odd day at work when I didn't have any caffeine it'd get to around 9pm and I'd wake up 5 hours later collapsed on my bed/sofa still fully dressed smile
So many people say tea/coffee/caffine doesn't affect them at all, but as soon as they've gone a few hours without they need it.
I have a friend that was a bit further in. She'd near constantly have mug of tea on the go in the evening. Dispite having problems sleeping tiredness, irritability, work stress, poor health and depression, she'd claim caffine didn't affect her.
It really wasn't good seeing someone I cared about like that, but it's a vicious cirle and hard to break; feel tired - more caffine - more problems.
we finally managed to convinvce her to switch to decaff for her afternoon/evening brews. She recovered pretty quickly back to her normal self again smile
