My facelift 3.2s has done just under 90k miles on the original suspension. I think the dampers are way past their best. For example at 70 if you do a little left/right on the steering - just a nudge - the car seems to exaggerate the movement rather than damp it.

So what would need refreshing normally and is it a DIY project? I've been spannering cars for many years, so not a novice.

Cheers
Bert

I have just had my 2000 Boxster S visit Center Gravity and the dampers were tested as fine but the bushes and balljoints are in need of replacement. Have you looked at this for potential replacement?

I guess I'm looking for the likely things to replace and what to replace them with. So is there a normal set of things to refresh if it's all done 90k miles?

here's a cut and paste of my post from boxa.net:

I bought 4 complete wishbones / coffin arms for £68 each from eBay seller carpartsmanstore. I also got a pair each of the front and rear track control / fork arms for £30.99 and £47.99 each from eBay seller youwantwehave. I can confirm these are built up TRW items with the Porsche logo ground off. Next step fitting and a proper Geo set up.

These prices are even cheaper than Eurocarparts or Design911 with their discounts or free delivery.

Those ^^^^ sound OK from what's written but do beware of certain cheap copy parts. Baz from Hartech once posted pics of a cheap arm that'd failed/snapped and it was clearly of poor quality.

Don't overlook the bushes (some of them would come with the new suspension arms) as they play quite a big part. Mine were a pain to remove by a garage. I would never do it myself even if I had the ramps. Struts will be easier but still not easy as most other McPherson based cars.
