M5 E39 2001 SERVICE/TUNING

Hi all good day to you all. Just wanted to know if anyone has had a service of AMD
In Northampton. Also a re-map off AMD they are quoting 24bhp xtra plus 37 lbs tqe.I need a review or 2before deciding. Before heading there I'm going to Custom Chrome Nuneaton to delete the silencers. Bring on the opinions guys and gals

Hi mate thanks for replying. I'm very close to sticking to stock, bar the muffler delete I need to hear this this car. But got this re-map idea floating about in my head with the extra bhp on offer by AmD

I would goto EvolveAutomotive.com in Luton instead, they have one of the quickest E39 M5s in the UK and know their stuff.

Ady 702 thank you. Money is a issue with me. Evolve are the ones I know to go to but they do charge a pretty penny man. I only drive 2000 miles a year in it plus the dragons got me re decorating the house I'm having to use money found behind the sofa to get all this work done on the M5. Having said that I have not spoken to Evolve yet. Will give them a ring in the morning. Thanks 702

Had mine remapped by Evolve 2yrs ago,made it more lively,cost about £400. You will not get 20bhp from a remap on an E39 M5 ! Mine went from 396 to 404bhp but it deffo feels better. Evolve did the map and let me test drive my car 1st before paying incase i wasn't happy.

Hey! Simon thanks for that Evolve does seem the place to go. Anyone near you you recommend for a inspection 2 service if so I can pick up the Sat Nav off you while I'm down there

Can't really recommend anyone for servicing down here although i have used Graham Frape in Margate (20 mins away from me) he is a BMW specialist & has been going for years but it was a few years back, also a place in Herne Bay called Unit 5 which are BMW specialists they renewed the Vanos on an M3 Evo i used to own but it was the previous owner that used them not me. I do most things on my M5 myself so tend not to use garages these days. BTW Inspection II at BMW main dealer is only £539 which isn't to bad, Broad Oak BMW is the local dealer to me in Canterbury i used to work there many years ago so know a few of the staff.

Hey Simon your right of course BMW is the way to go. I have been quoted £539 by Sytner Coventry at least this way the cars service history remains all main dealer. Its booked in 05-02-13 for the silencer delete. Following week inspection 2 at Sytner Coventry. Then to yours for the Sat Nav fingers crossed it will solve the problem. By the way I rang Evolve, they said the car needs its rod bearings replaced??? at £1200
before I pay out for a service as a preventative measure. And then a re-map. It was quite alarming to hear all that, the M5 has 120,000 with full dealer history properly maintained no funny noises coming from the engine. I'm going to ask Sytner to do a health check of the engine.
